How-To: The Skincare Routine that will Work Wonders for your Skin

Due to the freezing weather during this time of the year, our skin gets extra thirsty as the cold sucks all of the oil and water from our skin. It, therefore, becomes a necessity to take extra good care of it, no matter what your age. So, today, i thought it was a good idea to talk about and share with you my top skincare tips and favourite skincare products, all step by step. While reading this, keep in mind that you don’t need all of these steps daily but definitely once a week or if you have somewhere extra special to go to. So let’s get started.

Step 1: Remember to take off your makeup every night!

This is probably one of the most important steps. At night when you sleep, our skin’s pores open up and they absorb everything that is on our skin. This means that if you have good skincare ingredients it will absorb these and if you have all of your makeup and dirt from your day out it will absorb these. Can you guess the difference, then, this makes on your skin? Huge!!!! I do understand though how much of a bore it can be doing this every night. I am not a big fan myself. Still I have found products that make this the easiest thing in the world. Some of them also clear out your skin from the dirt of the day, too, so it’s just like you’ve washed it.

  • La Mer Micellaire Water
  • Tom Ford Cleansing Oil
  • Bioderma Micellaire Water
  • Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean

Step 2: Cleanse your face.

So as you understand cleansing your skin is really important too. There are different ways to do that and these depend on your skin type and needs. As I have normal skin with a tendency to dry and seriously dehydrated, I love to use oily and watery formulas but again this depends on how my skin is that day. My favourite ones are down below. Note that some of them you will notice are the same as the ones above. This is because they are normally cleansers but you can also use them to take your makeup off with a cotton pad. They work both ways and this is why I am including them in both categories.

  • Tom Ford Cleansing Oil
  • La Mer Micellaire Water
  • Avene Cleansing Foam
  • Estee lauder Perfectly Clean

Step 3: It’s time to scrub

I love to do some extra pampering on Sundays. It is my day. I tend to stay at home on Sundays and I love to read a good book, listen to music and of course take good care of my skin. I have seen a really big difference to my skin from scrubbing it and taking better care of it. The most enjoyable difference of all was that my serums and moisturisers sink in much better and faster after i’ve used them. Have a look at my favourites below!

  • Bobbi Brown Radiance Boost
  • Fresh Sugar Face Polish

Step 4: Next up is a good mask.

Due to my skin type which you can read about in the previous section (just in case you skipped that part), I tend to go for hydrating and brightening masks, too. I understand this isn’t a surprise to you but it is what it is. I like masks that I can take off instead of leave in unless my skin is seriously dehydrated. You can find out which are my favourite ones below.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Goddess Skin Clay Mask
  • La Mer The Intensive Revitalising Mask

Step 5: Tone it up!

Now, this is a weird thing. Some people say that toners are a must-have, must-use in your skincare routine, but rather recently i stambled upon some new research results that show and explain that toning your face is completely useless and a complete waste of time. I don’t know if it is true and I will keep you updated on that if I find out anything new about it but for now it is completely up to you to decide whether you want to use them or not. Personally, I still use them because I love the scent some of the ones below have so you know... it is entirely up to you.

  • Elemis Soothing Apricot Toner
  • Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Tonic
  • La Mer The Tonic

Step 6: Serum

I love the feeling of adding a serum to my face. It is so smooth and I can actually feel it working its wonders on my skin. Especially with the ones below.  The best thing you can do for your skin is to get a plain hyaluronic serum online or the Pharmacy as it is seriously the best for your skin. For this please consult your dermatologist. If you are like me though, and you hate the waiting for your order to get ready you can have a look below at my personal favourites. Now I understand that my options below are not the cheapest, but trust me when I say, they are seriously the best i’ve tried.

  • La Mer Renewal oil
  • Clarins Double Serum

Step 7: Moisturiser

Finally, the last step of the process. This is the simplest one of all. Just add your favourite one on. Believe me when I say that when you have gone through all of these steps for that special day or just the essential steps for every day, any cream you decide to put on will just do wonders for your skin and you will love it anyway! This is the truth. So choose your favourite and enjoy it. My personal favourites are down below. Please note, that this is also the time to use your favourite eye cream. I can’t recommend any to you, as they cause some sort of allergy on my skin and so I don’t use them.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream
  • La Mer The Moisturising Soft Cream (if you are older in age the Creme de la Mer will be best for you in comparison with the Moisturising Soft Cream)

For daily use I suggest that you go through steps 1, 2, 6 and 7 no matter what. You can if you want add in step 5 but as I said I leave this one to you. I hope you enjoyed today’s post and that you did find something interesting here. Until next time, remember to subscribe to Beauty-Full Lifestyle and follow our social media profiles and of course have a great time and keep smiling!

Lots of love,

xoxo, Angie.
